The apprenticeship programme is one of CWE’s proudest achievements, boasting a dedicated centre of excellence for the future generation to carve their path in the rail and engineering sector.
Today, we are celebrating 20 years of loyal service from our passionate commercial director, Dave Bates, who himself began his CWE career back in 2004 as a budding apprentice fitter.
The journey working up through the ranks at CWE has been remarkable for Dave, who has seen the business flourish since his first day, occupying eight roles over the two decades including, fitter, inspector, coupler supervisor, coupler shop manager, production manager, operations manager, commercial manager and his current role, commercial director.
Dave has been instrumental in the success of CWE, and more recently in the recent acquisition by William Cook Rail, as the group continues to grow.
Dave said: “It’s been quite the experience growing with CWE and being a part of the challenges and developments. I am so proud of the team we have created here, and I can’t believe how quick 20 years has flown by! I’m grateful for the opportunities CWE have given me over the years, and I’m even more grateful I can now support my team with their own opportunities and developments.
We are well-established in the rail market, supplying coupler overhaul, bogie overhaul and repair, buffer overhaul, wagon overhaul, fabrications, machining, and NDT activities for both the passenger and freight sectors. We don’t want to stop there, so watch this space”.
