CWE – the independent supply, maintenance and logistics partner for the rail industry – has added to its list of industry qualifications by becoming certified under EN 15085, the primary welding accreditation for the rail sector, and ISO 3834-2.
The EN 15085 accreditation is being increasingly specified as a core requirement for contract or acceptance as an approved supplier by companies in the rail industry that supply or manufacture components, sub-assemblies and vehicles.
CWE has been awarded the certification under the Certification for Welding of Railway Vehicles and Components (CWRVC) scheme, which “demonstrates a manufacturer’s competence for control of welding quality in production of railway vehicles and components.” The achievement means that CWE is certified to perform welding under certification level CL 1 for bogie frame and coupler refurbishment, drive beams and cross members, centriges and conveyers.
In addition to EN 15085, CWE has also received ISO 3834-2 accreditation, meaning that its operations and processes comply with European Welding Federation and International Institute of Welding requirements.
Nick Andrew, Managing Director at CWE, comments:
“Receiving both of these accreditations is testament to the hard work of the team and demonstrates that our welding capabilities are of the highest standard for the rail sector.
“We understand that, for our customers, keeping the fleet operational is of the utmost importance, which is why we have invested in the latest technologies for component repair, refurbishment and replacement to ensure that the stringent quality and safety standards are maintained.”
