CWE Financial Year Review 2024/25: A Year of Strong, Sustainable Growth

18th July, 2025

As we close out the 2024/25 financial year, CWE is proud to report a period of sustained growth, operational progress, and team development across the business. In a year marked by both industry challenges and opportunities, we’ve remained focused on delivering high-quality engineering solutions, supporting the UK rail sector, and investing in the people and capabilities that drive our long-term success.

🚆 Business Growth

This year saw CWE achieve impressive revenue growth, driven by increased demand across our core services and new project wins with key partners in the rail industry. Our expanding reputation for reliability, technical expertise, and collaborative working continues to open doors in both existing and emerging markets.

  • Impressive revenue growth from 23/24
  • New contracts secured
  • High repeat business rate, reflecting strong client satisfaction and trust

🛠 Operational Highlights

We’ve made significant progress in improving our safety standards, operational efficiency and digital capabilities:

  • Successfully upgraded internal systems to streamline project delivery and reporting
  • Brought in a new health and safety manager and protocols with measurable improvements in incident reduction
  • Invested in new machines and transport fleet to enhance productivity and quality control

👷 Team Development

Our people remain at the heart of everything we do. This year we:

  • Strengthened our team significantly with an excellent calibre of staff
  • Launched our Life at CWE series to spotlight the diverse experiences and career paths within the company
  • Expanded professional development opportunities, with 15% of staff completing further training or qualifications

🔧  Sustainability

We continued to explore and implement more sustainable practices in our operations, focusing on overhaul, material reuse and energy efficiency helping our clients meet their own environmental goals. Through the reuse and repurposing of materials wherever possible, we’ve significantly reduced waste, embedded sustainable practices, and supported our customers in expanding their fleets by increasing goods capacity. This approach has enabled us to complete over 200 bogie overhauls, 900 buffer overhauls, and supply more than 3,000 components—all without the need for expensive new builds. We’ve worked closely with our customers to understand their needs and have developed a fully integrated and sustainable end-to-end logistics solution for unit overhauls.

Looking Ahead

As we move into 2025/26, CWE is well positioned for continued growth. Our pipeline is strong, our team is engaged, and our commitment to quality and innovation remains unwavering. We’re excited for what lies ahead and remain grateful to our clients, partners, and staff for their ongoing support and trust.

Together, we’re building not just infrastructure—but a lasting legacy in UK rail engineering.
