In an inspiring display of determination and generosity, loyal servant to CWE Colin Jaques has walked over 200km during the month of February to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s disease.
The challenge, which began on February 1st, saw Colin brave cold temperatures to cover the distance while rallying support for a cause close to his heart.
Colin smashed his target of at least 1km a day by quite some distance, with his biggest walk a staggering 7 hours long, covering 45km in just one day.
“The response from the community has been overwhelming,” Colin said. “I’m truly humbled by the generosity of friends, family, colleagues and even strangers who have donated to this cause. It’s a reminder of the strength and solidarity we have as a community.”
“It wasn’t easy, the 45km in one day was especially hard as I did the majority of it with a huge blister under my foot, but I’m really happy I completed the challenge, and it’s fantastic to raise money and awareness, whilst getting out in the outdoors at the same time!”
CWE pledged £100 to Colin’s charity, with Managing Director, Dave Bates commenting: “I’m incredibly proud of Colin for taking on this walking challenge and going above and beyond to raise funds for such an important cause. His dedication not only highlights his personal commitment to making a difference but also reflects the kind of leadership and compassion we strive for in our workplace.”
The funds raised will go toward supporting vital Alzheimer’s research, programmes for care givers, and resources for individuals living with the disease. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting millions worldwide, and research into better treatments and, ultimately, a cure, remains a critical need.
