CWE Ltd establishes Centre of Excellence for Rail

6th January, 2022

CWE Ltd – the independent supply, maintenance and logistics partner for the rail industry – has announced it is launching a Centre of Excellence for Rail at its Crowle facility, providing customers in the sector with one of the most comprehensive rolling stock refurbishment services in the UK.

The news follows the recent launch of its new hydraulic and mechanical buffer cell, and brings its coupler refurbishment facility, which is currently based in Worksop, into its Crowle site, ensuring all of its capabilities are under one roof.

As a result, current and future customers in the rail sector will benefit from a more efficient service with easy access to the relevant parts and expertise at one site. The new Centre is a key part of CWE’s growth plans for the future, which will focus primarily on expanding its presence in the rail sector.

“This strategic move follows a very exciting 2021 for CWE, which saw us appoint a new senior management team, launch a fresh brand identity and invest in our new buffer cell. The creation of a new Centre of Excellence for Rail at our Crowle site is a reflection of the significant growth of both our customer base and engineering capabilities in the rail sector over the past few years. The industry is at an exciting stage, with new technological developments demonstrating the important role the rail infrastructure will play in the UK’s future economic and low-carbon future. Our maintenance, refurbishment and replacement capabilities for vital components are specifically designed to keep rolling stock on the tracks for longer, minimising downtime and reducing carbon emissions. We are excited to build on our growth into 2022 and beyond.”
