New investment brings complete wagon maintenance, overhaul and engineering capability together under one roof.
CWE has unveiled its new Wagon Overhaul Facility, representing a significant investment in engineering capability and providing freight operators and wagon lessors with a single partner for wagon overhaul, refurbishment, engineering modification and component manufacture.
Mainline connected with a bi-directional rail connection, the all-weather facility has been designed to maximise operational efficiency. Its improved layout supports continuous production throughout the year, streamlines wagon movements and enables faster turnaround, helping operators return critical assets to service more quickly.
The facility strengthens CWE's ability to deliver complete wagon overhaul programmes, from engineering investigation and reverse engineering through to fabrication, refurbishment, testing and project delivery from a single site.

The facility is already delivering benefits for customers. One recent programme transformed a stalled overhaul into a wider engineering improvement initiative after CWE engineers identified the root cause of recurring failures and developed a modification with the potential to improve reliability across additional vehicles.
